  1. This tailpiece was salvaged from a destroyed 1947-65 Gibson ES guitar or a L50, not sure which (it's a long story ...). But I am looking to sell this to somebody but am just not sure A) that it's genuine Gibson. B) That it's actually a vintage tailpiece. C) Which guitar it came off of, or D) It it's nickel or chrome (it has a yellow sheen to the unexposed portion that leads me to believe it is nickel). Because of all this I'm just not comfortable representing it as a vintage Gibson tailpiece. I don't want to sell it and have an unhappy buyer. Is there anyone out there in Vintage Gibsonland who has some deep knowledge about tailpiece that can help me definitively ID this thing? I thank you in advance if there is. Also, I can't seem to post more than one pic to this site and it's frustrating. If someone wants more pics I can email. Thank you!
  2. I'm trying to attach photos of the pickup, harness, etc., but I guess I'm able to post just one photo. Weird.
  3. First off I DID NOT do this to this guitar. Today I bought an amp from a local young person (a '56 Rickenbacker M-11 all original everything!) here in SoCal that had belonged to his deceased grandfather. While selling me the amp and noting my interest in old gear, the kid said "Wish I would have saved the guitar that came with it." Then he told me the very sad story about how he "made art" out of the guitar. I asked what he meant, and he showed me this photo. AWFUL. He did save the tailpiece, saddle and DeArmond pickup and harness from the destroyed guitar, and gave them to me with the amp. This photo just really makes me ill, but I am hoping to ID the guitar from the photo so that I might date the pickup. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the pickup, tailpiece and saddle just yet, but I'm leaning toward selling them as they're too sad to keep around here. So, anybody with an eagle eye able to decipher the date/model of this destroyed guitar? Thank you!
