I don't care how many albums/tickets he has sold. His music sounds like C R A P to me. His voice is annoying.

    Oh.   I see.
When artists are really popular. And most people love their music…..they actually suck when you don’t like them.

Your opinion only represents one (unfortunately, very crabby)  person.
But please continue. The rants are very entertaining.

How many tickets has Dave Matthews Band sold?

    25 million

As of 2018, the band had sold more than 25 million concert tickets and a combined total of 38 million CDs and DVDs. Their 2018 album, Come Tomorrow, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making DMB the first band to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at the peak.

You certainly stand in the minority with that opinion.

    Central Texas checking in.

Hey SilverTurtleZ28. I lived in Tyler, TX for a couple of years. Great state, made some good friends. How's your G45? It's ben a hot debate around here and would love to hear another opinion. Unfortunately I've never had the chance to play one.

Yeah, once you plug in, it’s not really an acoustic any longer. And I’m convinced that 98 percent of those in any given audience doesn’t know the difference between a pre-war Martin or Gibson and a cheap Asian knock-off. Their only yardstick is whether you can hear the guitar or not.

I completely agree. I have never heard anyone who doesn’t play guitar(99% of the population) comment on the quality of acoustic tone when listening to a song. Ever. Those same people don’t even notice what make/model guitar is being played. And if told, it would have no real meaning to them.

  5. EB Earthwood PBs are my absolute favorite strings for most of my guitars. They sound so full and creamy, and they ring and ring….   Unfortunately they don’t last long enough for me so I’ve switched to EB’s Everlast and even Paradigm PBs. I hear  a slight reduction in richness, but they last 3 times as long.

I like women, especially when they are naked, just sayin'.

With my job I get to talk to some guys in their 90s a couple times a week. More than once they have told that they still like women - naked. It will never change for us,  thank god.

Parker never let Elvis tour outside the US because he (Parker) was an illegal immigrant, having come into the country with a travelling show from the Netherlands in the late 1920s, changed his name from Andreas van Kuijk to the most American sounding name he could muster, and flown under the radar for several decades. He always travelled with Elvis and didn’t have the requisite paperwork to travel outside the US as he never had the requisite paperwork to travel TO the US in the first place. To put it quite simply, if he had left he wouldn’t have been able to get back in!

Crazy story. I don't think you could get away with that nowadays.

A Used one could be a good Buy though…

I see them on Reverb on and off. There are some there now, some for a very decent price.....  but most who sell on Reverb don't have a good return policy. That bothers me.

My J29 rocks. I have let go of many high end dreads. Not letting this one go.

That is really good to hear.  Especially so because if I buy one, it will most likely be over the internet without playing it first. (I know everybody, I know - bad idea.  Live in Maine like I do and see what other options you come up with.)

These sorts if discussions about quality of body wood always seem to arise whenever taste and judgement are involved.  My take on it is perceived sonic differences tend to be overblown when the context of bracing and other factors involved in making sound come out of a guitar are ignored.

I agree. That’s the point I think I might be getting at. Since the J29 and the AJ have the same body wood, bracing, and body shape, is the perceived difference in sound quality by the general public due to the differences in price tag? Wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened.

The biggest difference is the scale length and the quality of the rosewood

Some of the rosewood patterns on the backs of AJs have looked stunning.
    J29s - not so much.
I wonder if those visual differences translate into sound quality differences.

  12. Hello everyone.

I have been in the hunt for a rosewood backed guitar.  I respect all brands of guitar, but I have found that  a Gibson acoustic is the sound my ears are in love with, Guild being second. So I'm searching for another Gibby.

I'm a cheap bastard, so I buy used and always look for deals, which brings me to the J29. I have researched their specs and find them eerily similar to the AJ, even down to the 30's style advanced X bracing.  Besides cosmetics, the only difference between them I find is the scale length. We all know how revered the AJ is,  but it seems the J29 has spun off as kind of "Meh".

Unfortunately, living halfway to nowhere, I have never had the chance to play and compare an AJ to a J29.

Any thoughts from you all on the sound quality of a J29, and the reason for the huge perceived discrepancy between the AJ and the J29?

    Thanks in advance.
