Does anyone know how much resistance a Ripper pickup should have? I've been restoring my '74 Ripper, and I've found that the neck pickup has 5.9k ohms. The bridge pickup was dead, but after removing the tape on the back of the coils, I found that the connection between the end of the black side coil and the black wire was loose. I resoldered it, and it works now, but the resistance is only 2.9k ohms. Being almost exactly half the resistance of the neck pickup makes me think one of the coils isn't working. I'm not sure how that could be because the red wire is connected to the other coil, but I thought I would ask if anyone knows if both pickups should have the same resistance. If so, any idea how the bridge pickup could be so much lower and still work?
