  1. Hi I have a Les Paul 1958 reissue and I opened up the pot cavity today to find 2 of the pots are bourns 500nl pots. Also the pickups that should be Cur¡stombuckers have nothing written on the back. Is this normal or should I be worried they are replacements. Thanks!! Chris
  2. Hi Guys! I have a 1977 Les Paul Custom with no volute. Can anyone help me to establish why this is the case? I have been told from a couple of Gibson dealers it could be a repaired headstock but the neck shows original finish under UV light so I'm sure it's factory original. The dealership who sold it in 2020 said it was probably a customer order. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I have sent pictures to Gibson Consumer relations who replied as follows: I cannot explain that the guitar has no volute, as the serial number refers to 1977, it's not a 50s or 60s reissue. Maybe the headstock was broken once and they decided to remove it?The volute was discontinued on the Les Paul Custom in 1980 (and introduced in 1970). Maybe a vintage guitar specialist can explain it, or maybe it was simply a mistake at the factory? human error-The 70s were a very chaotic time period in any case...
