  1. I don't know why I assume I'm the only 38 y/o woman who's into playing guitar. You're absolutely right. I'm sure there's other people out there and going through a teacher is a great way to find someone. I love my teacher as a person but maybe he's not the best for me. I just wanna jam, not learn theory (which I've gone back and forth with a lot throughout my process) and master scales and be Kirk Freakin Hammet. I know it helps and I know it's great for muscle memory but I'm never gonna be a pro. What do I care? I busted out the guitar for the first time in over a year last night an
  2. Yeah, no. I don't have to sell it. Just as content to keep it, so, I guess I will. I love the advice, alberjohn, but the thing is ...I don't have anyone to play with!! Never have. I think that's a HUGE part of my lack of interest and I have no remedy. Everyone I know that's musically inclined has toured with groups that everyone on this forum has heard of and I can only pay them to play with me ...lol. In fact, in one of my last guitar lessons - I was trying to learn something, my teacher was getting a little miffed because I tend to stop when I mess up. He's EXTREMELY good-looking a
  3. Hey, guys. Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, I guess I have given up playing. Kinda sucks, really... considering how much I used to love it but I never really could get past a certain level. It's not just that i don't have room in the truck, which I don't. I put a lot of pressure on myself, changed teachers A LOT and got completely frustrated. Playing became a chore with all the exercises and I got bored with the level in which I was most comfortable. I'm hoping I'll pick it back up one day without expectations of greatness ...lol. I think I've read more than one post from older playe
  4. I'm looking online and at Gibson.com and I can't find them. I've been OTR driving truck for the last year or so and can't carry it around in a truck with me (no room and wouldn't want it bumping around in there anyway) so I'm thinking of selling mine (cj-165rw) - was looking at what they're appx going for now-a-days and... nada. I can't even find one on e-Bay. Have they stopped making them? I noticed a J-165EC in RW and it seems to be the closest thing to what I have but that thing's list is EXTREMELY high. In fact, it seems all Gibson acoustics have sky-rocketed in price. Whasaupwitdat!?
  5. Take I-526 to I-26W exit Remount Rd. Cross over Rivers Ave to Remount, go up a light or two and look for the CVS Pharmacy on the left. Turn left at that light (Yeamans Hall Rd) and it'll be on the left in that sorta V shaped shopping center. Tell Mike and Chuck Laura said "Hi." EDIT- OR ...Exit 526 at Rivers Ave (HWY 52N) and turn Right onto Remount Rd. That'd probably be easier.
  6. I didn't know he passed away 'til just now. I used to love talking to him about hunting and fishing in the PNW. He seemed like a super great guy and was always friendly as all get out.
  7. All your answers were good but I was thinking- "What Is and What Should Never Be" by LZ. hehehe.
  8. Look around and think about it ...lol. It's not as literal as others but I think you'll get it.
  9. You say P!nk - I say? Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop - I say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B - I scream Classic Rock You say Hannah Montana - I hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap. If you are part of the 30% that still listen to REAL MUSIC, copy and paste this message to your signature DON'T LET RAP & HIPHOP TAKE OVER! DON'T LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK DIE!!! Hahaha ...I love it. I'd also like to bury all "Puddle of Mudvaynes" or however the eff it's spelled. Non-melodic mickey mouse psuedo hard core crapfest. That's what (most) music is today. Cheers. And Happ
  10. American Pie by Don McLean. Jan '72 Oh, and as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage. No angel born in hell Could break that satan's spell. And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite, I saw satan laughing with delight The day the music died.
  11. Now that you mention U2, I remember that being one of her answers and him saying they were from "his" day.
  12. I originally posted this question in another thread but I thought it more appropriate that it have it's own space. I saw Billy Bob Thorton on Bill Maher a while back and they were discussing what they considered to be "good" music. BB said he posed a question to a young person which was basically, "What band/musician has emerged in the last 25-30 years that people will still be listening to 50 years from now?" The girl named a few people, all from "his" day, Springsteen being one. His point was that there's not one single band/artist from the last 3 decades that will be remembered. I agree
  13. I friggin' LOVE Metallica. Here's a thought ... I saw Billy Bob Thorton on Bill Maher a while back who posed a question to a young person which was basically- "What bands/musicians have came out in the last 25-30 years that people will still be listening to 50 years from now?" The girl named a few artists who were all from "his" day, Springsteen being one, his point being that not one single band/musician in the last 3 decades would be remembered. I was screaming "METALLICA!! METALLICA!!" at the TV ...lol. Like an idiot. Anyway, I know this discussion is about sig models so not to compl
