L50.  Bound board , white bordered pick guard.

I am pretty sure these are pressed solid tops   The easy way to tell is look at the edge of the f holes   I have both L48 and L50 with the trapazoid inlays. The L48 was only in 1947 with a script logo

Hi Slimt, thanks for the reply.  It would be cool if it's a L-50 because it was sold to me as a 1950 L-48.  Come to think of it, maybe the seller was dyslexic and he turned the numbers around in his ad.  So it is a 1948 L-50 and not a 1950 L-48.  Lol.

  2. Hi all.  I have been playing guitar for a long time, with mainly an interest in Fenders for a long time, but lately Gibson is entering my playing field.  I acquired a lovely Les Paul Goldtop with P90s and have recently stumbled across this L-48 or L-50.  The jury is out on that one.  And I could sure use some help with the identification.

There are some pictures below.  The FON is 1980 14, which would make it out as a 1948 model, although the previous owner told me it was a 1950 model, which I doubt. She has trapezoid inlays,  very rare on L-48s and common on L-50s. No idea whether it is a laminated or pressed  or sculpted top.

I will leave it in your capable hands....
