Thank y’all for the help & info. I’ve ordered some DR Sunbeams PB 12-54’s, a Tusq replacement drop-in adjustable saddle (which we may or may not use) and some bone pins (for what’s that’s worth). I agree, I think this beauty needs to be played and often... Peace, Love & Crawfish 😎✌️🦞

My dad recently inherited his brother’s 1970-1971 SJN. It’s near mint and has sat in its case since the 70’s. We took it out and it’s just dead. So flat sounding. No telling how old the strings are. It has the adjustable rosewood bridge/ saddle. Dad would prefer not to change the bridge or saddle but I am getting him some Bob colosi bone bridge pins and some new strings to see if it can help liven things up at least a little bit. Any string suggestions? I’m thinking DR Sunbeams or John Pearse phosphor bronze lights. Looking to get a louder, clearer tone. I know there is only so much that can be done and I understand that this generation were known to struggle because of the heavier bracing and saddle design. However, any suggestions to bring this beauty back to life would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like a 1970-1971 SJN Southern Jumbo Natural. Those early 70s models had that style if pick guard. No telling though.
