I'm trying to find further info on the Gibson BJB floater pickup since they're not available as parts. I've emailed gibson to no avail...
I have one that is irreparable, and I'm trying to find someone that can wind me something similar. They have a high DC rating but sound surprisingly balanced and not excessively dark.
I know from an old brochure it has around 8 Henries. Mine had ~DC of 13.8 kOhm, but they vary between 13-14k and go as high as 15 kOhm.
From what I could find online, it's very similar to a firebird construction, doesn't have a metal strip in over B string (typical of the firebird), and there is thick steel plate is attached at the back,
Would greatly appreciate if someone knows any further details about construction specifications, specifically the magnet type,the wire gauge and type.
