I don't think the 60's amps were made by TE......... there's some very distinct things about those earlier circuits that make them uniquely Gibson.

How did you make out with your issues?

Thank you so much vexorgtr! I will give that a shot tomorrow :-)
No worries. I like heavy strings on an electric guitar...... I use what most would call a Medium or '11' set. My robotic guitars do well with those.
The differences between the pre-min e tune gibsons and the minetunes is.......... The Original Robot, Darkfire, Etc. all "listen" to the strings at the bridge. They have individual piezo's in the saddles of the bridge. It is REALLY accurate.
Min-Etune has a disadvantage... since it's 100% in the headstock, it listens for pitch in the same style as a clip-on headstock tuner. It gives it a disadvantage in discerning all the different notes at once. Fatter strings would actually help it out a bit... since they create a stronger vibration throughout the guitar.

Are you using the same strings as factory? If you went to something even slightly different, you should re-calibrate.

Hi
My tuner or the min e-tune?
440 is the only mode available on my tuner and I can't see anywhere in the min-etune manual to say that it can be changed. So, I'm assuming it can't be changed.
OK, fair enough. Now are you getting sharp notes with the strings open? or just when playing fretted notes?

Is it set to A=440? that's the easiest mistake to make.

In the Late 70's, The LP got a maple neck... because quality mahogany was an issue I guess.... I have one from Jan 79 with it. I've also seen 78's with them. Any other years?
Yes, I like my Norlin Maple Neck Volute headstock goldtop. Serial puts it in early Nashville production.

I had one of those re-done awhile back. Basically, you just need to have the "Big Paper" power caps replaced. 3 Prong cord isn't a bad idea either.
Before: my amp gave free shocks, trem made weird buzzing sounds, Amp was noisy
After: Amp is Quiet, No Shocks, no trem works well.

I have several guitars, those with Wood Cases, usually have a nice smell... 2 Gibsons, and 3-4 other guitars all have that... TKL made wood cases have a distict smell that's quite nice.
One music shop I freqent, the owner smokes a pipe... so there's a little pipe smell on the case of my one Gibson.. but it's actually a nice tobacco smell... like a good cigar shop.

Epi 57 Flying V.... other than needing to replace the tuners, it sounded and played just fine... Sold it eventually when I didn't want a V anymore.
Epi Vintage G400... not bad.. Sounded ok, played well..... Sold it.... can't remember why. (I have a Gibson Robot SG Now)... but I sold the Epi and was SGless for 3-4 years.
Epi Casino.... like it.. still have it.
They are a decent value overall.
The Epi tube amp line had some real winners... I have the BC30 and VScombo.

Don't tell my 2 robotic guitars that. They've been running with 11's for 3 and 5 years respectively. I guess they'll just fall apart over the minor tension change.
