  1. Kiss and Head East. Kansas City Missouri 1976, 8th grade. $7.
  2. Thanks for all the info guys. I'm primarily a strummer (singer/songwriter) who does a bit of flat picking. I have average sized fingers so this neck feels perfect to me.
  3. The nut seems to be 1 5/8 if I measured right.
  4. Dchristo, thanks for the link. Yep it looks like 66 or 69. I guess I'll just go with 66 until I find a reason to say otherwise. Big Kahune, thanks for fixing my pic. Not sure what I did wrong. There is considerable finish checking but no cracks. The guy in the shop said their luthier fixed a loose brace, replaced the plastic bridge with a rosewood one and installed a bone nut and saddle. It plays real nice and sounds sweet. A complete different animal from my Hummingbird but I love them both. And the best part is, it was my wife who actually suggested I should buy it. I guess she saw how I instantly bonded with it.
  5. Hey all, I picked up a LG-1 a couple of days ago and I'm trying to figure out what year it was made. The tag on it said 1963 but I would like to verify that. The serial number is: 858060. I appreciate any help! I'm trying to attach a pic. [/img]

  7. Yeah, small world. Milod told me he lived in Pittsburg many years ago and worked at the Morning Sun. I was intrigued by your story about the old Gibby acoustic in the pawn shop in Fort Scott. Hope it works out for you.

  8. I have a maple top faded brown on back order from E. M. Shorts in Wichita. There is a 6-8 week wait.
  9. I've bought two bone saddles and a set of pins from Bob. I just told him what I needed for my Hummingbird and he sent me the saddle. He does excellent work and is great to deal with.
  10. That makes sense. I'll check out Daves. Thanks!
  11. Hi all, I've been looking to buy a Les Paul studio faded and recently noticed they are "redesigned" with a mahogany body and maple top, rather than all mahogany. My link But at all the online stores (Musicians Friend, Guitar Center etc) they are still listed as all mahogany. Does anybody know when Gibson changed them and why nobody seems to offer the maple top version? Thanks!
  12. Look at janetdavismusic in Bentonville AR. Very helpful 5-Star dealer . . . reasonable prices. I had a good experience buying my H-bird there. They have some Gibbys pictured on their web site.
  13. Paradise-John Prine Well you might see me tonight with an illegal smile It don't cost very much and it lasts a long while Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone I'm just tryin' to have me some fun
  14. I played a Woody SJ at Janet Davis Music last year. It was a beautiful instrument, and I wanted to really like it, but the standard J45 and HBird both played and sounded better to my ear. I walked out with the HBird. But with new strings and a set up, who knows?
  15. University Professor, mass media, Pittsburg (Kansas) State University.
  16. Of course its not a cutaway, but my Hummingbird is real nice for the singer/songwriter thing my wife and I do. I mic it with an SM57 or plug it direct into the board.
  17. I use D'Addario EXP 16s (12-53) on my 2008 Hummingbird. They're pretty bright at first but mellow out really nice after a couple of weeks or so. I'm not sure what strings came on my bird but these sound the closest to anything else I have tried.
  18. D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings on my Hummingbird.
  19. Saw Roger playing that guitar opening for Clapton a little while back. Real nice show.
  20. Hi all, Been checking in for a while but have yet to post anything. Janet Davis Music is a nice 5-star dealer in Bentonville Arkansas. The guys there are very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. I got my Hummingbird there a few months ago. Went in looking to buy a J-45 or AJ but walked out 2 hours later with the H-bird. I have never regretted it, but I sure would like to own a J-45 too someday!
