I had Joe Bonamassa sign my LP between the tuners on the back of the head stock (least touched part of the guitar) and I had him sign the truss rod cover.
BTW Joe Bonamassa gives a "life time" warranty on his signatures.
I heard him tell one person that had him sign the body of the guitar and mumble about it rubbing off.
Joe's answer was: "if it ever rubs off or fades away, come back and see me and I'll resign it, it has a 'life time' warranty"
Well I'm going to the Albert Hall next year so I'll test that, My scratch plate was smudged by my hand when I had it still on the guitar (Now removed)
Hope fully I'll have no problems organising the Meet with the PA..

Depends where....
The only safe places are behind the headstock or below the tailpiece depending on how you play.
In all honesty the only real way is you DRILL! on a covering but that is something I don't recommend...
If you supply a pic it should help, heres one of mine (That I still use)

I think I know what you mean, its the smell of the Nitrocellulose, this fades after a few years but initially it gives off a glue like smell.

Many sites say it was limited to 400 as for value $2,000 - $2,500 in Mint condition

Just got it today - Honeyburst.
Congrates what fretboard does it have?
Looks like one of the newer 2012 models so may be double ply rosewood or something else...

The NUT will be an issue here if you want 9's this is the best solution
It gives you 9's with 10s! (You will need to lower the tailpiece all the way tho)

My 2nd Studio a Joe Bonamassa (To go with my Gary Moore)
To report on Variations, this comes with a SHORT tennon toggle & is 50's wired on a Metal plate (Unlike my other 2 which are on circuit boards)

Keep it For the HUGE £600-700 loss you'll make its definately not worth it, PLUS Uk shippers don't cover instruments over £100 so if its broken your F#####

^^ Any permanent modification to the guitar will compromise the value of the guitar.
Tonal wise, the design will not affect the LP.
In my experience if not done by a professional, I can think of a few things that ADD value to a guitar
# Add a mod that many want (Peter Green eg)
# Copy a model in higher demand by changing parts
# Adding Gold Hardware instead of Nickel Stock.

Posted this elsewhere but worth adding to the cause...
Made July 13th 2011, #159 of the line from Nashville, TN USA (So hardly 2 months old!)
I can confirm a few things with the 2011 model
MAPEL cap on Mahogany
Short tennon toggle
Similiar non solder chip board as in my 08 Standard
