  1.    The political hypocrisy is killing me anymore. I used to laugh at it but now just wow! We now have politicians calling for the removal of the  female athlete that turned her shoulder to the flag from the US team. Beating cops with American flags is ok though. Just a normal visitors day at the capital right? (Said the guy that helped barricade the door!LOL!)  Religion anymore is just as bad. Common sense is no longer a thing. Oh wait using your head to understand something is now being woke! Believe what we tell you and nothing else! Bring back religion to schools but you can only practice our religion. Everyone I know received their religious teachings from their preferred church. Yup let’s start teaching religion in school but don’t you dare teach any history that mentions race or slavery. To the “patriots” wearing clothing that looks like it was made from an American flag, the difference between you and the protester burning a flag is he knows he is desecrating the flag. You don’t.

I’m afraid of the future but I have faith in our kids.

  2. Adjustable steel roller skates that strapped to the bottom of your shoes. Separate the wheels, nail them to a piece of wood and you have yourself a 1960's skate board!

Did you know that you can launch a 55 gallon drum 50 feet into the air by filling a surgical glove with acetylene and taping a fuse to it? Put the drum on it, light the fuse and run!

In the sixties, most Woolworths or five and dime stores sold fuse, little rocket engines, fuel etc. AND there was no age limit!

    The good old days!

After having driven through Indiana and most of Texas, I'd say that's a bit inaccurate.  [wink]

And I wonder at the why of the OP mentioning he(or she) was a veteran made the OP feel it had any relevant significance.  The only real significance on these boards is the respect for and ownership of Gibson products.   Now, some might say I should stick to just the Epiphone forum since it's what I own.  But face it, Epiphones ARE a Gibson product.  [cool]

To say my statement is inaccurate because other parts of the country are flat too is inaccurate!

Not knowing who Alfred Lord Gordon is, or was, I'm at a loss as to the OP's intent.    He(or she?) doesn't state where they're from, which has been a peeve of mine here.  Too many lack either the maturity, esteem or courage to let the rest of us know their point of origin.  Or they try to be cute and list, "It's good to be anywhere",  "Flat Earth" or something non specific.  But that's just me venting on something that's not really all that important.  To some, anyway.  [wink]

It would not be a lie for anyone living in S.E. Michigan or N.W. Ohio to list their location as “Flat Earth”.😂

  5.  Wife was upstairs working for a few hours when she yelled down, “ Honey, do you ever get a real bad stabbing pain in your back while just sitting there doing nothing like a voodoo doll?”  I yelled back “no honey”.
A few minutes later she yelled down “How about now”!!!!

  6.   I asked my daughter for the phone book. She laughed for a bit then called me a dinosaur before handing me her smartphone.

Well the spider is dead and her phone is now broken. She’s pissed!

  7. I know of many areas that had their ground water polluted by hazardous waste injection wells. Have to put it somewhere! Can’t use the water for anything! Cisterns or tanks are the water source in these areas now. No, in many areas the water is not safe.

AOC is way out in left field on things.  Same as that Marjorie Greene lady. Not a clue as to how they get elected. Money? Hazardous stuff in their water?😁

Until the idiots winterize there power sources, coal, nat. Gas and oil are useless below certain temperatures. Please don’t blame it on the windmills freezing! That one was hilarious!😁

  8. In my opinion it would be correct to state that your tap water at one point in time was relatively safer than Flints. A vaccine showing ten percent negative side effects would be considered relatively safer than one showing fifty percent. A 38 special with a safety is relatively safer than the one i have that has no safety pin. Where did this "relative concept" come from anyway?

They already have existing pipelines to move this oil. They want a shortcut is all. I may be wrong , as usual, but with the prices of oil as low as they are i doubt they are even pumping this stuff right now as it's costly to refine this type. The company admitted a while ago that the new line really isn't needed right now. Not until their pockets can be filled with green anyway!

    Does 'safer' count for anything?

Watch the residential houses in the background here.  Don't think for a second those people who own those houses signed up for this &#_$.   Sorry but railroads can be used to transport other things.  It's not a necessity to their industry to be hauling around bombs.

Safer? That falls into the 6 in one, half dozen the other camp in my opinion. At any given time there are millions of trucks and rail cars (bombs) shipping hazardous materials around the county in a fairly safe manner. The homeowner did sign up for it when they bought the house next to railroad tracks. Did they take into consideration  what those tracks are used for? I would guess that 95% of all  hazardous materials in this country are transported by rail or truck. No one pays attention to the tiny hazardous materials placards on the semi's they just passed driving down the road. It's not a necessity for the railroads but that is their business. They do it for profit.

It's not fun being told you can't drink or shower with your tap water. Trust me on this!

Have to throw this in too. Using eminent domain to take property from  people to enrich a foreign oil company is a no no.

He shuts the pipeline down forcing the oil to be trucked or railed to wherever. Pipelines are cheaper and most of all safer. Then bombs Syria for whatever and bypasses Congress for permission.

Has the pipeline even been built yet? Once it is, we lose thousands of american trucking and railroad jobs which will make the oil cheaper to transport. Don't think for a second that any savings by the oil companies will be seen at the pump! Shale oil is the the nastiest type. Not sure plotting it right through the biggest aquafier in the country is a good idea. Oil companies have had us by our christmas ornaments for many years now. All of a sudden  we get a new president and everyone is all for a foreign oil company cutting through our backyard to make it more profitable for them to export their oil to other foreign countries!

Yeah. I was just thinking out loud. Probably wouldn't do something like that.

Another cheap thought that may be easier for you to do  in the shop. Glue it up and use two screws to clamp it together. Try to put the screws through the thickest part of each piece. After it has dried remove the screws and drill a 3/8" to 1/2" hole where the screws were. Get a piece of hardwood dowel rod and glue in the drilled holes, snug but not tight. Trim them flush after drying. I think it would add a little extra strength than just gluing and screws. Not as strong as splines but same concept and easier!

Of course a pro would be ideal.
