  1. Well, the business elite certainly took the memo to heart, and now they run the country. They've stomped labor into the ground and dominate government. A good book on the subject is 'Who Stole the American Dream', by Hedrick Smith.
  2. I haven't had to make any mods to Gibsons. Instead of Straplocks I use Lock It Guitar Straps. I have considered putting pickup covers and witchhat knobs on my Flying V '67 reissue, since that would be more accurate.
  3. Fretboard blinder http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.acefrehleylespaul.com/Smoker__99a.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.acefrehleylespaul.com/Smokers.html&h=600&w=800&sz=84&tbnid=TPUWB9LHUnjbTM:&tbnh=98&tbnw=131&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dace%2Bfrehley%2Bpicture%2Bwith%2Bsmoking%2Bguitar%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=ace+frehley+picture+with+smoking+guitar&usg=__mUAvCtS1VEQussXd5Jx4eBJ2jpY=&docid=tTOIrM9VYyKQ6M&sa=X&ei=XYT-UZ_iBYjMyQGPv4CIBw&ved=0CC8Q9QEwAQ&dur=5137
  4. Is that a black finish or dark walnut? Mine looks black but is the walnut. If yours is black, that seems rare, most of the time I've seen them in a lighter walnut finish.
  5. The 70s were great for me and for the country, until the rise of Lewis Powell and ALEC sent us on our way back to plutocracy. Good union jobs, didn't swelter in 90 degree heat in the summer (not in CO anyway), Kristy McNichol was not yet a lesbian (joke). I have a '78 Artisan, fantastic sounding, plays like butter. In the '70s I had a '75 Fender Mustang, paid all of $130 for it.
  6. Honda Civic was the worst. Owned three American cars (reliable) and two Japanese (financial vampires).
  7. Bruce Kulick is a great guitarist. Gene may put down Carnival of Souls but I like Bruce's playing on it.
  8. What model is that top guitar? Is it custom? Have never seen that.
  9. 'Peg'-Jay Graydon 'Goodbye to Love'-Tony Peluso 'Billy Hunt'-Paul Weller 'Communication Breakdown'-Jimmy Page 'Money'-Dave Gilmour 'Stay Free'-Mick Jones 'Hot Blooded'-Mick Jones 'Go Your Own Way'-Lindsay Buckingham 'Blank Generation'-Robert Quine 'Breakdown'-Mike Campbell
  10. The Jam, definitely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF9XbtPo-e8
  11. I have had their first album and 'Permanent Wave' for years, just bought Vapor Trails and 'Clockwork'; all great. Yes, maybe Vapor Trails is not so focused. Just glad synth gone. 'Fly by Night' is next to explore. You've probably seen this, but I like this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB6sRQQBH6E
  12. You may not like 'Vapor Trails' but at least they ditched the synth, which was totally dominating/ruining their sound.
  13. My wife has cancer and she has lived far beyond the prognosis-so have the spouses and kids etc. of the people in my caregivers support group. They all have accounts like that. I think doctors feel obligated to tell you the 'standard' prognosis but at the same time they don't know, and can't know, what each person will do. But health care in our country, as far as the actual care application, is great and I wish you good luck.
  14. It was educational to discover the political leanings of the CEO.
  15. VIntage Guitar, and Guitar and Bass Magazine (another UK title) are very good/in depth.
