  1. I don't know if your strings are hitting the pups... look close...

But I had a similar problem on the 175. Heavy strings, light strings... No diff. It buzzed when I played and it even came through on the amp.

Oddly what solved it was checking the pick guard where it actually was touching the bridge pup/assembly.

I put on a little piece of felt on the pickguard where it rests on the pup/assembly. The felt I used is such as ladies put on the bottom of little porcelains that go on the shelf. They're awfully inexpensive for a batch of 'em. Made sure then that there was no actual contact between the plastic/metal of pups/assembly and the pickguard.

    No more buzz.

I have a similar problem on a 175. I traced it to the little wire that runs across the screws on the bridge (to hold the bridge saddles in when changing strings I believe). Since this wire serves no obvious purpose when playing I suppose I could take it off, at riosk of losing a saddle if I break a string. I think what I will do is research alternatibe bridges. It only really buzzes when I play the G string.

  2. Since you are in Europe I would advise a good hard look at Laney Amps (they can be hard to find in USA I am told). I have been looking for a new Amp lately and Laney seem to represent the most for your money from a highly respected company. In particular look at the Laney Cub head for a great deal on real all-valve technology if you dont need too much volume. As I recall that particular one gives you a choice of output at either 15W or less than 1 watt. It will be my bench-mark when I come to part with my cash.

Of course, if money was no object, and I wanted a lot of volume, with classic tone, I would be heading straight to a Marshall dealer.
