  1. I have the same kind of troubles.

So i use the recover password feature, and then i get in with a new PWD.

But when i sign out and sign-in again, then it never works and i have to use the recover feature again. I only have troubles with these Gibson forums, and only since it changed to new forum.

It is not a cookie question i believe, because i tried several internet soft (chrome, M$ Edge, etc...) and same problem.

  2. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Today I tried putting on some heavier strings. I installed some D'addario EJ16 12 gauge strings. The guitar does sound better, but it's not perfect. I'm still getting that werid metallic resonant sound. I would describe it almost like a Sitar kind of overtone. I did notice that when I don't play any open strings, as in the case of an F Barre Chord, it sounds fine. Perhaps there is something wrong with the nut? Has anyone experienced what I'm talking about before?

    Thanks

Do you have a piezzo on it ?

Maybe check the jack/plug input thing. You can unscrew it, there is 2 washers, one of them is not necessary and often causes this "buzz" thing.

Long time ago i thought my guitar had an issue with the nut or saddle, but finally it was one of these washers and removing one of them solved the problem on my hummingbird.

  3. this is great

here's my acoustic EP - well me and my mate.

a 64 country western was used on tracks 1,2 and 5

    53 lg 2 on track 3

a levin goliath on track 4

a furch ga 23 cc on track 6 (since sold)

would love to see what you guys think

    Andy

Would like too, but i'm too lazy to connect to Spotify [blush]

  4. Nice axe :) beautiful back.

By the way if you ever get the 2-ways hum., keep case closed when playing, with the 2-ways inside the case.

It will keep case at right humidity and most importantly, save your 2-ways as well. Mine lasted about 1 year (instead of the 3 months advertized), but where i live there is no much humidity changes.

  5. If humidity is high you might want to try d'addario 2-ways humidifyer if you have no device inside your case yet, and keep case closed when not playing...

70% seems rather high. Action increase that you describe seems a lot to me, but i have no idea wether humidity could cause such an increase.

How is neck bow, did you check with a rule? Did you change strings gauge lately?

edit : djw kinda beat me at it [thumbup]

  6. Here' s a recording I did with a early 60's J-45, that they had laying around the studio we were recording at. I know they were not the greatest years for Gibson Acoustics, but the thing had tone. With the cheap adjustable bridge and everything!

Didnt check here for a while, very nice track, easy on the ears, nicely played and singer has a sweet voice which reminds me of the cranberries somewhat.

  7. Those glue drops aren't an afterthought. They are there for a reason. Just like a luthier tap-tests tops when they are picking out wood for guitars, they later add the glue drops after the guitar has been assembled to fine-tune the guitar. It brings out and enhances those desirable resonant frequencies, or tames undesirable ones. So be aware, if you remove those glue drops (I call them tone blobs) your guitar will probably end up sounding worse.

Yes they add glue drop to make it look like "handcrafted". [biggrin]

  8. I wouldnt care about the glue inside the body, but i would for the neck. It does not match the standards we expect from such highly priced guitar.

I would give Gibson a call, you bought it new, and wherever you did buy, they will surely try to help because i'm pretty sure they don't like to have unhappy customers... I'm confident they do care.

Sound and tone is everything, but even if you're in love with it, you're right to ask for flaws to be fixed... it is a brand new guitar

  9. Quite frankly one of the most captivating voices I've heard in a while, especially once you got into it after a minute or so. I don't know that song but please do more!

Again - exceptionally interesting voice - almost haunting - I'd have sworn you were using voice effects at times, if you don't currently get singing lessons I'd do so, not because you need them but because you might just find with some expert tips you can really take it somewhere. [thumbup]

Aww thank you very much for the kind words. I really think i'm one of those people with no gift at all voice wise, always found mine horrible and used to sing very out of pitch... Some in these forums like Sal have a so nice timber in comparison.

With work it gets better slowly years after years but i need to work on it and you're right lessons would be the way to go. I try to listen to my records and try to correct the pitch afterward till it gets better when i work on a song with the hope it does not hurt the ears but it is not always easy.

Did not used any effect, just hummy and h2n recording.

    Thanks very much for listening.

  10. Never posted anything till now... I've been listening, learning and geting much inspiration off the great musicians in there, but as it seems unfair, here we go.

Nothing fancy, this is a small cover on the fly with the hummy and a zoom h2n of Radiohead "end music".

Sorry as well for my french accent...

  11. Getting the complicated one put me off

I sold it just haven't got around to getting a ditto yet.

This is why i thought that for for the price, a boss RC-1 might be the one to start with. The LEDs visuals help and automatic start as well are about all i need i think; just worried about the sound quality, and how difficult it is to stop a loop. Looks like tone wise many are satisfied with the ditto...

  12. Hello, i'm looking for a looper for my acoustics.

I would like to get one that respect as much as possible guitar tone, at a reasonable price, and preferably easy to use, not looking for top high end with all effects and thousands memory, just a looper.

Was looking at boss rc1, rc3, rc30... and jamman solo xt or stereo...

Any of you uses one ?

  13. Are the 2016s lighter? I know each particular guitar varies, and yes, the 2016s are very nice, but I don't think they made any significant internal changes. The 2016 Vintage is light as a feather, but a 2016 standard vs a previous standard shouldn't have much difference.

I got a standard 2015 (built in 2016, but 2015 model) and i tried the 2016 "new model", i didnt have both to compare next to next though, but the new seemed lighter to me when i took it in hands, i got surprised.

Dunno if it was the case though.

Couldnt see much difference either in tone or projection, both have this hummy wibe in them and seemed close.

Couldnt see any difference either with the edges things on fretboard, nor in wood appearance (2015 was AAA, 2016 AA, but looked same to me); im no expert though.

Since they were built same year, maybe the main difference was about the pickup...

  14. Hey guys I'm about to buy either a 2014 Quilted Hummingbird or a 2016 hummingbird. I just can't decide if the up grades are worth it as i love the look of the quilted. The pick up isn't a big thing for me as i don't really play many gigs its more the rolled fret board and neck. has anyone compared the two or something similar

    Cheers

Get the one you prefer, tone wise... But if it were me i'd prolly go for the 2016 hummy... The new models are so light weight, they are very good and the hummingbird is supposed to be hog back and sides, but it's true that quilted one looks awesome.

Still, quilted is mapple, not hog.

I think this is quilted hummingbird, not 100% sure though :

  15. My standard has its flubber pickguard show a very slight gap between edges and the top.

It never move more than that, and it cannot be noticed unless we really look very close to its edges. The pickguard stays flat, so i believe it is normal.

Maybe you have the same thing?

It is not glued strongly to the top and it is intended, because deformation is different between the pickguard and the top, a strong link could cause cracks.

If the defect is really important Gibson proposes to do something about this if you call them...

For other pickguards, i have seen a J45 (used) in a shop which pickguard (was a classic, not a flubber type) was REALLY curved up a few millimeters at least and it was damn ugly.

By the way, if it started to raise up in about a week since you bought it, you might want to check humidity and take care to keep it at a good level: it may be caused by changes in humidity... Do you keep it in the case with humidifiers when you do not play.
