  1. I've owned over the years about a dozen Gibsons & never seen shoddy workmanship in any of them. Sure, sometimes if you look *very* closely you'll see where the nitrocellulose doesn't quite cover the entire body (usually about half a millimeter where it joins the neck) but apart from that their reputation is well earned & they're justifiably proud of it & want to keep it that way...
  2. I really like the Seymour Duncan Phat Cats. YMMV...
  3. I had a solid bodied '96 Custom & then bought a new chambered Studio. Custom got sold on within weeks...
  4. You really need a valve (tube) amp to get the real blues tone. I use amongst others a Fender Blues Deluxe which is perfect for it. On the downside, it's really, really loud so a Blues Junior may be a better option for you...
  5. First the Dusk Tiger now this pile of junk. Don't know what they're smoking in Tennessee but they can keep it...
  6. One time I saw Billy Gibbons playing what I can only assume was a prototype Les Paul. It was a Gold Top with just one P90 at the bridge. It was beat up all to Hell. He was going through two Orange heads into 2 off 4x12's...
  7. Happened with my new LP. Got it set up by a luthier who filed the nut correctly & that was that. IMO, all new guitars need a pro set-up...
  8. 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers - Jeff Beck (playing the original '52 Oxblood)...
  9. Judging by the pic of the cavity of the tone/volume pots, they're using a different mahogany than on my LP Studio. Lot darker...
  10. I sold my '97 Wine Red LP Custom because it was way too heavy to stand up with for two straight hours at a time. Besides, I think my chambered LP Studio sounds better. YMMV...
  11. Looks real too: http://london.craigslist.co.uk/msg/1788145905.html
  12. If volume is your problem, try one of these: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/15202-z-vex-nano-head-tube-amplifier.html/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=base
  13. Given the choice I'd go for the 359...
  14. I spoke to the Guitar, Amp & Keyboard Centre in Brighton today (probably the UK's largest music shop) & they'll be getting them in for £749 all colours available. They claimed Gibson's factory in TN experienced a flood & are at present trying to clear it up. Whether this is true or not I knoweth not...
