bluezguy Posted July 11, 2013 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Hey ... what's your thoughts on making a Custom Bucker? I'd buy a set but they are not available from Gibson for retail sale. So, since they are a fashioned after a Burstbucker, do you think by swapping magnets in a BB1, BB2, or BB3 from their alnico 2 to an alnico 3, you can achieve the desired outcome? I've looked at mine (BB1,2 & 3s) and confirm they are unpotted, vintage plain enamel wire and all three of them show a DCR value within the range of Custom Buckers (7.49k - 8.7k). I wish I could hear a live comparison between the CB & BBs but neither my Sam Ash or GC have any Gibsons with the CBs in them. My LP Std has BB1 & 2. This combination has made me change out the 57s in my SG Std to BB2 & 3 ... and my ES335?? ... i'd like to try the BB1 & 2 in her.
