jbailes
Hello all, Epi Zakk Wylde, LTD Truckster, or LTD EC-1000 in vintage black. The 2 latter come stock with an emg 60 in the neck. As far as the truckster is concerned, you really have to be on the hunt to get a great condition one of those (since it's discontinued) for a decent price. But the Zakk and the EC-1000 are more in the same ball park. My style is pure metal, and I love BLS, but I like playing 'Tallica more since I'm not that big a fan of detuning the way Zakk does. Just wondering what your thoughts might be. Thank you.
BaZie
As far as I understand you want a guitar with active EMG. I've never played one but I think it's possible to play metal on passive pickups. Some say that EMG's sound the same in every guitar regardless of wood it's made of. Which Epi Zakk Wylde do you want? There are few signature models I think. I still think the best advice, although possibly not the one you'd like to hear, is to go to a shop a try. Unless you are already past this step.
