Micko Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Hi Everybody, Does anyone know when Gibson started swiss chesseing? I have a mint 2004 Les Paul standard Goldtop arriving in the morning, which weighs about 8.7 pounds. Chambering started arfter 2005, if I'm correct? Best micko
Guest Farnsbarns Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Swiss cheese (aka traditional weight relief): 1983 Chambering: 2008 Modern weight relief: 2012/3 All USA les paul standards have been weight relieved one way or another since 83. As long as we're talking standards those are your dates. There have been chambered reissues made, aka cloud 9's and other reissues are solid, LP traditionals have been solid for a while but were swiss cheesed first, there are lots of anomalies but for USA LP standards it's straight forward.
