Alouf
I was wondering hearing of them A's for wood quality. -Who assign how many A's a wood have? -How many A's does a GOR LE have? -What is the maximum number of A's rating can a wood have? -Does more A's sound better? or just look better? elantric
Since a GOR has an Opaque Blue Silver burst painted top - no "A" rating is possible, since you can not see the wood on the 1st run GOR. The "A" "AA" or "AAA" rating are for translucent finished instruments where the figured top (typically Maple) is judged for its three dimensional Flame or Quilted Maple top. Alouf
I see, so the A's are for aesthetics only. What about 5A I have been seeing lately, is that really AAAAA? Who gives these 'A' ratings?
