West Texan Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Thanks for allowing me to join! I am on a quest for information about a particular Gibson model ES and thought maybe some of you could offer up some thoughts and information. The forum will not allow me to upload the pictures due to size. I think both guitars are ES 175s. Both of the pictures I have are from the mid-late 60s to maybe 1970. The curiosity comes from the fact that I only remember one of the guitars. The only obvious difference to me is the tailpiece. Would anyone be willing to let me email the 2 pics I have and offer up your thoughts? The backstory- both guitars belonged to my dad who passed away in 1988. The one guitar I remember was what I thought was an ES 175 from about 1967 or so. My brother traded that guitar to Guitar Center in 1989 while I was going through a divorce and in no position to go buy it from Guitar Center. I don't have any hope of being able to trace that particular guitar down at this late date. The other guitar is from an earlier time period and I was not even aware there was another Gibson. I thought he had quit playing a Gretsch at the time he bought the Gibson. The second picture turned up a back in 2014 when an older sister passed away and I found the picture while going thru her things. I have been curious ever since about the two guitars and it occurred to me today that a Gibson forum might would be able to help me at least determine the two models. They may both be 175s with different tail pieces, I have no idea and haven't been able to locate anything on the internet that would point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance and hopes we all get to have an enjoyable new year! Clay Quote
