Nickrobinson
Hi, I’ve recently bought an Epiphone Sheraton from my local music shop. The chap in the shop said that it came in as just a neck and body, both sanded down completely (apart from around the sides of the body). He put it together and then added pickups, tuners, knobs etc that he had lying around his workshop. It plays great, I can’t put it down and I love its Frankenstein charm. I’d really love to more about it e.g. age, where it was made, but there is no serial number on the neck and the sticker in the f hole is covered, I assume from the sanding. I can see the sticker is orange and can just about make out the epiphone logo but can’t read anything else. I’ve tried cleaning it but no joy. Strangely there is loads of glitter stuck inside too. If anyone has ideas on how to date it some other way, let me know. cheers x
Phil OKeefe
If it has a serial number, can you post it? That will help track down the date it was made and possibly which factory it was made in. Check for a label inside one of the soundholes. If there is no serial number, it's going to be much harder. We'd need lots of pics of the guitar itself to have any hope of giving you more info about it.
Nickrobinson
Thanks. Can’t see the serial number on the sticker. Photos on the way x
