fusion01k Posted April 30, 2009 Share Posted April 30, 2009 I bought it new in 1986 and all this time I have been absolutely sure they were 490R/498T pickups. Other people are telling me these pickups only came out after 1990 but the Les Paul Lite was out in 1986/1987 and it had the 496R/500T combo which is basically the 490R/498T only with ceramic magnets. I doubt Gibson introduced a ceramic set first as most common sense and logic would dictate the mainstream set was the 490R/498T and they ADDED ceramics to create the 496R/500T. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the catalog with the SGs from that year saying Hot Alnicos which are the 490/498 set. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
