les paul special 1960 VOS vs historic reissue

the les paul special tv yellow singlecut is one of my favorite les paul model and now that I have the money to buy one, I don't know wich one I should get : the historic re-creation or the new VOS...I just want to know the differences between these and which is the best. What I know now is that the historic reissue has a hi-gloss finish, the neck is thinner and it's 300$ more expensive than the VOS...Is the quality the same for both? does one feel more `custom shop`than the other?

They're both the same guitar. They're both historic reissues. The one that is not shinny (VOS) is $300 less because there is less time/labor involved and the guitar does not go through the final buffing stages. Same quality, same everything.

Late to the discussion. Yes, the gloss is more expensive. I just acquired a new one in limed mahogany (correct color name ..... but generally known as TV yellow).

Superb guitars! A really nice change of pace from humbuckers tonally. hank
