georgius
Hello everyone, I currently use 0.11s with my Gibson, but I would like to try 0.13s flatwound (+ adjust neck's rod) Does anybody know if there are any gauge limits with this model of Gibson? I'm asking just in case, cause I've never used heavier strings, which have more tension (concerned about guitar's neck). Thanks a lot! Ray_Stoddard
Hi George, Your guitar's neck will probably handle the increase in gauge. Bear in mind your new strings might require more room in the nut less they bind. (when you stretch string(s) while playing they might not go back to their original tuning) And, of course, you will also have to adjust the intonation. AlanC
Good points Ray. I have not previously thought about the impact of bigger strings on the nut. Food for thought!!!
