Witmer
So I had that little gig last week, not a big deal in the real scheme of things, but great for me. Prior to my last string change, I've had issues with binding at the nut/ tuning problems. I could have bought some nut sauce, and may eventually, but after getting to learn from all of you, I first: slid the old strings back and forth in the slot to help "file" it just a tad, pre-cut my string lengths to avoid having extra windings (I've never been able to estimate the length very well), and used a dab of petroleum jelly on the slots that were binding. And? No tuning problems at all. I got one "ping" on a string that never sticks, which I assume was due to the guitar getting cold before the gig. But overall, I benefited huge from getting to pick the brains of older and/or more experienced musicians. The internet rocks, and so do you folks. Thanks!
