wayside
Has anyone come across a 1945 J-45 with a three piece neck? My understanding was that they were common on the early banners but phased out by '44.
Dave Carpenter
From my experience 1945 was a year of variety for Gibson. I have a '43 Banner J45 and it has a large no truss rod mahogany neck. On the other hand my '45 LG 2 has multi piece maple neck. I think by '47 things were getting back to normal. Here is a quote from "Gibson's Fabulous Flat-Top book", "Three-piece maple necks were common just after World War II. Why do you ask? DC
