MikeVB
I'd love to have a 30's era L-00, but just don't think I could ever swing 5k which seems to be about what they go for these days. However, I could possibly afford a 30's L-4 roundhole archtop as they seem to be about 2.5k. I know arch tops in general sound different from flat tops, but does anyone know enough about these two guitars to compare and contrast their tone and playability? I'm primarily a flatpicker, but mess around with thumb/index picking in open G and D. I also don't pick balls to the wall like bluegrassers who seem to try to tear the strings off guitars in jams. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just like to sort of let the guitar make the tone it wants to make at its sweet spot. I've been playing a Fullers Reissue J-35 which I like a lot, but I just don't play big loud ensemble music anymore.
underground-vintage
You can get an L-00 for $2500 if you keep your eyes peeled, especially one with a couple of repaired cracks. I sold one with lots of wear but no cracks for $2800 two months ago.
robwill54
I've seen them go for about the same or a bit less lately. Saw one blow thru ebay for 1700 a week ago or so. Bob
MikeVB
Guess I've only been looking at overpriced dealers. Thanks.
