rlammjr
what is the story on 1980's LP's. Good, bad, great? Anything to look out for? thanks
Rame
1985 would be the end of the Norlin years. I know the Norlin years get a bad rap and I'm sure alot of it is justified but I have a 1978 Les Paul that I love. I think it sounds and plays great. There are diamonds in the rough I think. I don't know of anything in particular to look out for other than the normal things you would check out when buying a used guitar (straight neck, can the truss rod be adjusted, intonation, how much fret wear etc. and how it sounds and plays to your playing style). Good luck and let us know if you get it. (with pics of course!)
blacklabelsam
I bought a 1980 LP Custom a few months back and I love it! I think with Norlin era guitars it is basically a "hit or miss" issue. Therefore, it would surely help if you could play and examine it before you buy it. If you're careful enough, you could end up with very good guitar. Anyway, good luck and have fun playing it (if you decide to buy it). cheers
