gergface21
I just purchased a Epi Elitist 1965 Casino and love it! I wanted to put a Bigsby on it and was wondering if you guys knew which ones will fit. Id like to put the Bigsby B700 on (with the stretch bar.) The holes on the bigsby look close to the casino but I wanted to make sure. Thanks!
Stig
You don't want a B-700. That's the licensed, imported repro version. Actually, the B-700 is black. The B-70 is the regular licensed version. What you want is the B-7, which is the American-made "Genuine" model for a Casino-style body. From the Stewart MacDonald website: Model B7 Bigsby Vibrato The legendary Bigsby vibrato features a string mounting bar floating on low-friction needle bearings, for accurate return to pitch. Each model has a cast aluminum frame and stainless steel arm. You can get them on Ebay for a bit over $100. The good one is not much more expensive than the cheap one. gergface21
The B-7 has a 4 hole spacing on it. I was hoping not to have to drill into the guitar. The B-70 has a 3 hole spacing like that found on the back of the Casino.

Do you want a Bigsby you won't be entirely happy with just because the better one creates a couple of small holes on the butt end of the guitar that nobody will ever see? gergface21
Well if I wanted the bigsby off you would see a hole. The difference between the cheaper licensed ones are that they are casted. No reason why I wouldnt' be happy with it. It's not like they're a ton of moving parts on a bigsby lol

No reason why I wouldnt' be happy with it. It's not like they're a ton of moving parts on a bigsby lol I have a Casino with a B-70, and a 1968 Guild Starfire with a real Bigsby. There's a difference. I did find, though, that the B-70 works a lot better if you get a genuine replacement 1" spring instead of the stiff metal 7/8" one that comes with it. Much better action, more travel, and it goes back into position better. I can live with the one I've got, but if I was starting from scratch, I'd get the better one. Personal preference. Either model will put screw holes in the TOP of the guitar, so the 3 or 4 holes by the strap button don't make a lot of difference. Once you go Bigsby B-7x, you won't be able to go back easily. The B-3 and B-6 models don't have the tension bar, and therefore don't have to be screwed down. The one on my Guild is like that.
