arobatto Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 followed by the roy haynes festival (1/11/08 - 1/23/08!) Caught the show today on my analog box (AKA radio) while on the Belt toward the Verrazzano. Cool cat, good bop. I listen to WKCR and Jazz88 every time I'm in the city (Mon - Fri) ... Alex
96epiregent Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I would have liked to have caught that myself. I have a VHS(yeah I know Olde!!!) that has the group Chick Corea put together remembering Bud powell, the group had done the Newport Jazz fest. Roy Haynes was the drummer. His solo during one of the tunes was unreal. All of the guys shuck their heads in amazement.
dubstar Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 "I would have liked to have caught that myself." not sure if you mean the radio show, but it's on continuously for the next two weeks...bird and strings right now
