Elitist 1965 Texan VS..anybody have one, thoughts?

I know the Elitists have been discontinued, but they did make Elitist acoustics and archtops at Terada in Japan.

Does anybody own one of these instruments? Obviously they weren't made in great numbers. I was just wondering if they are as nice as the Elitist electrics that were made at Fugi-gen.

I have seen a J-200 and a L-00 acoustic Elitist on Ebay once or twice in the last few months, but not a Texan. 8-[

I've got one, and a McCartney Texan (which is almost the same, but with a nitro, not poly finish like the Elitist). The Elitist acoustics were indeed built in the Terada facility (as were the semi-hollow and hollow body Elitists like the Dot, Sheraton, Casino, Byrdland, and Broadway). As you'd expect, the build quality is very precise and clean. The wood is well-chosen for attractiveness.

They have a nice, warm voice. The volume is good, but not overpowering, so they'd be good for most to sing with. Mine sounds best when strummed vigorously.

Neck is slim and narrow, and nothing like the profile found on contemporary Gibsons. The Texan is also long scale. very easy to play, though (I find it feels like you have to use more effort with some long-scale guitars).

Speaking of Gibson, I auditioned a Texan built in Montana (for the hand-signed McCartney Texans), and the sound seemed similar to me.

Of course, they have the adjustable bridge. The Elitists appear to use the same mechanism Gibson currently uses when they reissue guitars with an adjustable bridge.

Cool, thanks for your input Red. I am looking at one a friend of mine owns, and I have GAS...but the wife would go mushroom cloud, since I got an Elite LP Standard a few months ago. I don't currently own an acoustic, and to have an Elitist Texan acoustic would add nicely to my collection. May start looking around for stuff to sell to purchase this guitar.
