mtoy
I'm attempting (yet again) to wire up my Sheraton with Gibson '57 Classics. I just got a MojoTone 335 Wiring Kit in the mail today, and I wired the humbuckers up and they were ready to go. However, as I was putting them into the f hole, the solder joint game loose on the back of one of the volume pots. I resoldered the string ground and the pickup ground on the back of the pot, separately, but I am still getting a wicked hum. The bridge pickup is clearly not grounded, as I can touch it with my finger and hear a noise on the amp. The bridge pickup is also not responding to a screwdriver being tapped on the pole pieces. Can anyone help??? P.S. I am dealing with the Gibson braided-coaxial wire, I pulled the wire from the sleeve and separated the two (got that tip from Dan Erlewine's book) I'm at the end of my rope with this one. mtoy
I am still playing with it, and when I put the switch in the middle position, both pickups are fine, no loud hum, it's only when the bridge pickup is one by itself.
Strumbone
Looks like you'll have to pull and inspect the wiring for the bridge pup. Braided shield on pup wire should be soldered to back of volume pot (ground), and signal wire (hot) to lug 1 of volume pot.
