beatlehead
I'm normally an acoustic player, but my wife just gave me a red electric guitar with Epiphone by Gibson on the headstock. There is no serial number on the plate on the back which is smooth (and slightly misaligned, so I'm thinking it's not top of the range!). It looks more like a Stratocaster, but I've looked around on the web and people seem to describe the headstock as hockey stick shape. When were they made and what did they retail for? It sounds OK by the way. Thanks.
animalfarm
Initially sounds like an Epi S-300 Strat Copy... http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.gbase.com/files/store_images/gear/2266235/p3_u0mpkwb3k_so.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.gbase.com/gear/epiphone-s-300-strat-copy-white&usg=__qKPKDoMoJTnrWpofesqtZMouuSg=&h=720&w=936&sz=98&hl=en&start=18&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=B7j8-WELZJT_3M:&tbnh=114&tbnw=148&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpictures%2Bof%2Bhockey%2Bstick%2Bepiphone%2Belectric%2Bguitars%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26rlz%3D1T4GWYA_enUS316US264%26tbs%3Disch:1 http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://epiphone.3house.com/imgs/s6.gif&imgrefurl=http://epiphone.3house.com/&usg=__qvQHcPU2qKCU7UI05e9L2SyPuCM=&h=400&w=230&sz=65&hl=en&start=37&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=-GcTbiKJ6BcglM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=71&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpictures%2Bof%2Bepiphone%2BS-300%26start%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4GWYA_enUS316US264%26ndsp%3D20%26tbs%3Disch:
beatlehead
Thanks for your quick reply, it's definitely the one. I found this useful site after you gave me the number http://epi.p3net.net/wiki/index.php/S-Series#S-300. Somewhere between 1986 and 1987. Can't see the price, but OK for £50 - c $75!
