putting a pickguard on a sheraton 2

hi all

 

im new here, just got my self a vs epiphone sheraton 2. and i love it had some classic 57 pups put in and a proper good set up and its my favorite guitar at present... just cant see how a gibson can be much better. love this thing

 

problem is i thought i would see what it looks like without the pickguard, now i cant get it back on properly. just cant work out how to get the nut on the back of the screw that goes through the guard and the litlle metal bracket that it sits on, there no way of getting my fingers through the gap..

 

if anyone can enlighten me on the art of getting that bad boy on would be greatly appreiciated.

Attach the bracket to the guard first, then attach the whole shebang to the guitar.
