bryanvoet86
Hello all, I have a problem since a day or two, that my Epiphone Les Paul Custom Cherry gives a high beep when my amp is in lead channel. The clean channel is ok. I don't use any pedals or mod's it's directly plugged in. Any of you know what could be the cause of that? It especially occurs when i turn the volume knob of the bridge or the neck up to 10. It's not my amp because my Gibson Les Paul standard 2008 doesn't have that problem. The Cable that i use is a planet waves shielded cable with a kill-switch and that's also good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
brianh
Not sure what you mean by beep, but if you mean squealing, then you you either have pickups that are microphonic (magnet winds are vibrating), or some other kind of pickup-related feedback problem. I have the same issue an a couple of guitars, and the commonly accepted solution is to wax pot the pickups. Or replace them with better pickups that may already be wax potted. Here's some info on this: http://www.musicianshotline.com/archive/monthly/mean_gene/09_05.htm http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/potting.htm http://archive.ampage.org/threads/1/gtgd/000179/Potting_Pickups-1.html#000179
bryanvoet86
I figured it would be something with the pickups. Specially the one in neck position. The second screw from the left in the pickup, you can push it up and down, when normally you should turn the screw left or right to set it in a higher or lower position. Think i'll replace em right away. Thanks for the heads up!
