Lend27
I have a John Lennon Casino.....the sunburst 1965 model. It comes with nylon saddles.......true to the original. However, to my ears the sound is muted or muffled when the string lays on a piece of vinyl. Have any of you guys compared the two? I think the IB JL Casino has steel saddles. I'm really not sure how different they sound, but I would think there would be a noticeable difference. If I wanted to replace the nylon saddles with steel saddles, which ones would I use? Do they just lift out? Are they easy to replace? I would save the nylon saddles of course, in order to preserve the original status for the next owner if I ever sell. Any opinions on this? Thanks! Zork
I have 2 1965s right now and the saddles on one move side to side (bass to treble), muffling the string. Watch for this. I also did a side by side with an Elitist Casino and the 65 seemed more musical. If the saddles move, Gibson will replace the whole bridge if you are the first owner. If you want steel check Stew Mac or Allparts.

Len[/quote'] It's easier to replace the bridge. I would recommend this Gotoh Bridge, excellent quality. If you want to keep the vintage ABR-1 look you can get this bridge. Either should fit, but check the post spacing just to be sure. If you replace the saddles, you got to make sure to get the correct size, Gibson saddles don't fit the aftermarkets and vice versa, you have to notch the new saddles, once you remove the retaining wire it's difficult to get it back on without bending it... It's just easier to buy a new bridge, and that way you can easily switch back & forth.
Lend27
Thanks for the info! I ordered the Gotoh bridge from Stewmac. I ordered the nickel to match the existing hardware. That should do the trick , and I'll save the original just in case. Thanks! Len
