L-5 CES 2010

Hi All,

I've been contemplating a purchase of a 2010 L-5 CES. Wondering about a small issue that makes me a bit curious...

The red sticker inside of the other ES models I have the word "Guitar" written or stamped on the line after the word Gibson. On the line that designates Style, the model type is written or stamped; as in ES-175 D.

This 2010 L-5 has the word Guitar written after the word style and then L-5 CES written after the word Gibson.

Any insights?

If you are wondering if by chance that might be a clue that it might be a forgery, I wouldn't go by that. It is well known that Gibson has made many mistakes, including misspelling, on its labels in recent years.

The CES behind the L-5 is the prepoer designation, which means C; cutaway ES; electric-spanish, (the designation for a guitar with pickups). Gibson models that were origionally accoustic models that have the same designation or model # that have pickups have the ES added to the model type at the end, as opposed to models that are origionally electric models (like ES-150, ect.).

One more thing about labels. Any label that is genuine and on a guitar that says "L-5CES" is occasion for a boner.

Hi Champagne

Just to ease you mind a bit. I have a 2010 L5 CES. My label is how you stated in your post. Mine came directly from Nashville through the Guitar Center warehouse. If you have any further question about this fine instrument feel free to ask me.

Hey Jazzer,

Thanks for the info; mind is eased a bit. THanks everyone else as well for your help. I'm about ready to pull the trigger I think.
