Epiphone potentionmeter

Hello people,

I would like to ask if anyone knows with what potentionmeter the epiphone sg 400 comes with and also what's the difference between the 300k and the 500k? which one do you think suits better to a 498T pickup?

Thanks in advance,

Petros.

Ok enough of this black art. A pot is a variable resistor, thats it, nothing else, it won't effect tone. Build quality of these resistors may differ but at zero resistance they should be the same. It's measurable with a meter. At full scale it should be 500k, says so on the tin. Assuming this is correct, it's the quality that we are talking about then, the shielding, the durability, and the linearity (I know its a log pot), and if it fits your guitar.

If you think you need a 300k, then turn your 500k a little bit and it will be at 300k resistance.

You can buy these different pots at Maplin(UK) or Radio Shack(USA) and will hold their values (resistivity) for a while but they are cheap and will wear out, tracks, sealing, springs and bearings.

It's all about the quality and reliability.
