Jim Bowman
1948 LG1? Mine has metal (looks like nickel) Gibson Deluxe tuners but there is no evidence they were replacements. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim
jjbiv
As I've come to find out there's nothing really too standard about the Gibson LG-1's, especially during the first years of production. By that I mean it's not out of the realm of possibility that the tuners are original. Are they 3 on a plate or 3 in line? They might be made by Kluson for Gibson. Does it say Gibson anywhere on them? Sometimes there's a serial # on the underside of the plates that might clue you in to a date to see if it corresponds to your guitar. I have an LG-1 from '48 or '49 (maybe earlier) that still has 3 of the 6 original buttons ... they're white plastic. Others I've seen were also white plastic.
