romans
I recent acquired a Flatiron F5 Mandolin #87110271. I aquired it because of its great sound and playability. The lable indicates it was built by "Flatiron Mandolin Company", it was handmade in Boseman, MT and it is signed by Dennis A. Berheim (sp?). If I understand the numbering system, which I may not, this Mandolin would have been made in November of 1987 after Flatiron was acquired by Gibson. I have three questions: 1. Is my assumption about the numbering system correct? 2. If it was built after Gibson acquired Flatiron, why does the lable still say "Flatiron Mandolin Company"? 3. What is the significance of the signature by Dennis A. Berheim? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ed
