gaxeman
I know the EMGs are mounted differently in the Steinberger Synapse Transcale than they are in most guitars, but they don't appear to be interchangeable either. The screws mounting them into the Steinberger, via the ears on the pickup, are larger diameter than the ones on an ESP - that is, the ear holes are bigger on the Steinberger EMG. So they appear to be different than common EMG 81/85 replacement pickups, or am I making a mistake somewhere? Was just trying to swap some pickups and surprised it was not a direct replace. gaxeman
Ok, found a way old post here that explains it, the common EMGs have a threaded brass insert in the mounting ear. I could see the insert but assumed it was not removable. I guess Steinberger either gets them custom made without the insert, or else removes them.
