luvgibson
I,m thinking of fitting a Bigsby to my LP Custom. I,m worried that the steep angle of the strings going from the Bigsby via the "retaining bar" up to the bridge must surely cause tuning stability??. Can some one kindly put my mind at rest?? CR9
It is more of a personal choice if you like it or not. They have been putting Bigsbys on Les Pauls since the 50's. You might consider a good roller bridge to go with the Bigsby. Some players like the steep angle between the bridge and the Bigsby or tail. I think that they may always be some tuning stability but there are so many pro players using them that it must not be a big issue. I have had a Les Paul with a Bigsby and never had a tuning issue. Others have. Maybe it is something in the style of playing. I don't thrash or pound the strings. Maybe use a "Vibra plate" (don't know about the spelling) for installing the Bigsby so you can reverse it easily and not have holes in the top. GO FOR IT!!!
