Maconbridges
I have an Epiphone by Gibson guitar without the serial number label inside. It is a cherry model and based on the peghead markings the only similar model that I can find is an Epiphone 1963 ES 335 Dot. On the back of the peghead there is a sticker saying "Made in Korea" and a number "3" stamped in the top. Here are some pics. Thanks for your help
brianh
I would guess that it's really a number "2" stamped on the back of the headstock which means it's a factory second. That would explain the missing serial number, they don't apply them to 2nds, or sometimes they obscure them. Nothing wrong with that, it just means it had some minuscule defect that made it unable to be sold as new. It also meant it didn't have a warranty when sold, but that's a moot point now anyway. Congrats and enjoy!

Maconbridges
Thanks, I never saw an Epi Dot with a 'narrowed open book' type of headstock AFAIK they only have been used on LPs in '89 and it isn't a JDM (Japan Domestic Market) type I was thinking it was similar to this model: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/71968-epiphone-elite-1963-es-335-dotch/
Maconbridges
Yours is not an Elite/Elitist model, they have been made in Japan and had 2 screw trussrodcovers... This ^^ is an 'Elite/Elitist' type headstock Cool, any idea what the value of my guitar might be?
Sada Yairi
Guys, anyone know what year Epi switched the font for the name Epiphone on the Dot headstocks from this old traditional one to the new more modern one on the Dots?
