Jock68 Posted March 20, 2013 Share Posted March 20, 2013 I am lucky to have a Custom and a Custom 68, the 68 has 57s and it is the best sounding guitar I have. Not sure what makes it sound the best to me, but I love the sound. Put 57s in my Explorer and I love how it now sounds. My description of the difference between the Custom and Custom 68 is that the 68 is not as sharp, more smooth and has wide sound. But my ears are different from yours, I would try to hear a custom with 57s to see what you think. I also like the sound of the 490 in the custom.
