Ryan H
We've all heard of "programmable" effects units, that allow you to tweak different aspects of a virtual effect using knobs or sliders or what have you, and then store them as "presets" and such... Well, this is a completely different and really cool take on the "programmable" guitar effects pedal... Make a blank effects unit..4 knobs, a powerful DSP chip onboard, expression pedal input...then create an open-source C++ based DSP framework so that any programmer with a decent grasp of C-like languages can turn it into Any effect imaginable, or any Number of effects. This is huge...all those crazy specialist effects that you could never justify buying because they were too expensive and situational...well, now you can buy one pedal (for £250 or so) and it can be Anything. You just have to program it (or get someone else to program it). You can even assign one knob as a rotary selector and have multiple effects in one box...or create "presets" with more than one effect on at once. I'm definitely pre-ordering one of these when I get the money... Link: http://www.rebeltech.org/shop/product-category/owl-pre-order/ -Ryan (P.S. If this came off as a sales pitch, it isn't. I'm in no way affiliated with Rebeltech or the OWL project. I'm just really freaking excited.)
btoth76
Wow. This is interesting. Not even from the guitarist's point of view, rather from a former C-programmer's. :) Cheers... Bence
