dunnoaname
I want to rewire my ES-345 to mono without varitone, but I encountered something unexpected when opening it up. The bridge pickup cavity contains two rectangular metal objects that are held in place by a screw and hooked up to the pickups. What are these, and should I keep them in the wiring? Here's a pic:
Grog
They are chokes, part of the varitone circuit. The same choke that is used in the baritone circuit on an EB-2 & an EB-3 bass. I was unaware that two of them were used in the ES-345-355.....
kaicho8888
Yeah...that is the inductive load one for each pickup (stereo wiring) used with the capacitors and resistors on the 6 position selector switch (varitone). ES-345 wiring
