lowlandr
I just got a 1961 335 and the pickups were replaced. Would restoring pickups to vintage PAFs bring the value up enough to be worthwhile? The guitar is in great shape other than the pickup mod. Cam in alberta
The addition of proper PAF's would cost about the same as the value of the guitar would increase.

If you're looking to upgrade the sound, some of the boutique PUs (Throbaks, OX4, SD Antiquities, etc.) are actually truer to the "holy grail" sound that PAFs are legendary for, than some actual legit PAFs! There was a lot of variation in the manufacturing specs in those days and consistency is rare.
