2007 J-45 pickup issue

Hey all,

Dont know if anyones had the same problem, but my 2007 J-45 seems to suffer a distinct lack of volume on the low E. The saddle is smooth and flat and seated properly (I've checked it countless times in the last few hours LOL). Nothing seems to sort this out. I work in a guitar shop which is where I got my J-45 from, so any help to me would also be a help to potential Gibson customers of mine who also experience this.

I had the same problem with one of mine. The first thing the tech did (after he checked to make sure the saddle bottom was flat and seated properly) was to check the battery and then they ended up replacing the pick up.

Hi, thanks for the info. Did they replace the pickup with the same sort? Ive fitted a fair few pickups in my job, but havent seen one of this style before, wonder if its anything to do with this type.

Yes, they replaced it with the same type.

I had a similar problem with my 2005 J45. in my case the base strings were overly loud & completely drowned out the treble strings. My local luthier ended up changing the whole pick-up to a B-Band one & the problem is solved.

I also had the same problem with my J-180EC. I ended up having the pick-up replaced

and the problem was solved. Mine also had the bass strings drowning out the treble. At first

he put a very thin plastic type shim under the bridge at the treble strings and it helped some,

but changing pick up worked best.

Thanks guys, Ill phone them in the morning and get em to send me a new pickup (its handy working in a music shop LOL)
