  1. I have a Historic Series 42 Banner J-45 and the saddle leans quite similar to that. I have heard tell that a leaning saddle increases the risk of cracking the bridge but I have also heard luthier/repair persons say it's nothing to worry about. Mine has been that way for a few years now and no issues so far. I'm not too worried about it. If I was, I'd take it to a couple of trusted shops and get a 1st and 2nd opinion.

Since I’m doing all my own stuff, that song won’t be on my set list. Besides, Oliver Anthony’s songwriting sucks, and his meteoric rise up the charts is due, for the most part, to rightwing provocateurs and losers. If he had released the very same songs four years ago when a different president was in office, these same provocateurs and losers would ignore him (at best) or roundly criticize him as “un-American.”

Anthony’s songs ALL boil down to a) “my life sucks” or b) “my job sucks” or c) “modern life sucks” or d) “I need to get drunk” or e) “I like to get high.” Usually, it’s a combination of two or more. In his songs, he spends a good deal of his time drunk and/or high, then wonders why he can’t get a good job.  He’s the subject of ALL of his songs, he tells no interesting stories and paints no interesting characters.

People say, “I like his music because it’s raw and unvarnished.” It’s also amateurish and unedited. There are LOTS of better “raw and unvarnished” acts out there that make much better music. I get the concept of folk art, but his songs are the musical equivalent of sticking your 7-year-old’s painting on the fridge and calling it “Art” with a capital A.

And of course he complains about “rich men” not caring about American miners (and by extension, American jobs) and plays the song on a guitar built in Asia. I guess he’s unaware there are entire companies in the U.S. that hire American workers to build guitars — in America. Maybe if he cut back on his weed consumption, he could buy one.

Are you sure he wasn’t talking about the Jason Aldean song?

Best of Luck.  You might want to leave politics out of your performance.

How can he when that seems to be the go to for so many people these days? He’s got the rhetoric down, he should embrace it. It’s the UK, they probably love hearing about right wingers and losers.

I expected no less a reply from you, Mr. minor 7, as you and he are members of the same subset of extreme guitar fanatics .

The only difference is that his musings are less incomprehensible than yours.

How is the whole “being a di*k on the internet thing” working out for you?

  5. I prefer short scale so normally I would go for the Hummingbird but there is no way I would pay the money for one with stickers all over it. Next for me would be the Elvis Dove. The 200 is an amazing guitar but too big for me.

  6. One huge consideration not mentioned so far are the neck profiles. The LG-2 and CEO 7 necks are just about as different as you can get. I owned a CEO 7 and liked the sharp V neck, and found the tone quite “beautiful.” It really is a unique Martin. But. . . I actually found the tone to be too complex for my vocals. I felt as if I was always struggling against it when singing. Certainly could be an issue unique to me. And admittedly, I’m not the greatest vocalist. I play mostly singer songwriter stuff and for that, I’d go with the LG-2.

The part where he referred to "Sleepy Joe". Seems as if there's a bias there.

Ah, I hear you. That sure does seem biased. “Dirty kid sniffer” seems more appropriate.

Thanks for your usual deep insight,  and your avoidance of political opinions which , I was led to believe, was anathema here.

    It never ends.

    Where’s the political opinion?

With respect, I for one, don't even understand what the point of this thread is.

What else do you guys have to talk about? Martin binding? Taylor Swift?

  10. My preference would be for the original due to bone nut/saddle, white button tuners, silk-screened logo, and to be completely ridiculous but most-importantly, the orange label. My main gripe for both models is the slim taper neck. I think the standard should have the newer slim taper and the original should have something beefier.

I'd like to take this opportunity to applaud every contributor who helped keeping this thread from being one of the most lame, low and inferior the Board ever saw.

A set of pens goes out to ya'all - you know who you are. .

Gibson Premium Pen With Logos (Bling Sparkle - Headstock - Humming Bird) | Lazada

I wouldn’t be able to use one. I drop my pen way too often. I’d break the headstock off.

RvrDxn -   I assume you weren't referring to those two holes ?

Brother, life is too short to limit yourself to only two holes. If it fits, I say go for it! Get creative. Technically, anything can be/become a hole. But perhaps that is a (w)hole other discussion entirely.

I would be interested in checking out the J-35 in person.
